Interesting local Delaware story at The Community News. Apparently, an angry father of a bullied P.S. duPont student has been appearing at every meeting of the Brandywine Board of Education to ask: why weren’t officials protecting his son from bullies? Why did they bar him from hallway bathrooms, and prohibit him from going to class when there was a substitute teacher present?

Sunshine Week in Delaware

I know it's a bit late, but the Delaware Press Association's newsletter only comes out quarterly, and one of their main topics is Sunshine Week and its effect (or non-effect) on open government in Delaware.

Shocking news!

Deregulation was touted as being a good thing for local Delaware electric companies. Then costs skyrocketed, and people were hit with bills that in some cases were 200% higher than they'd ever paid.

Now, facing a budget shortfall, Dover is wrestling with the same problem of having to past the cost along to customers. Government officials are even discussing the possibility of re-regulating the industry in an attempt to control these skyrocketing costs.

Time to invest in solar panels!
