McCain quick to criticize Biden as VP

It's finally official. Barack Obama has selected Delaware Senator Joe Biden (D) to be his nominee for vice-president.

He sent the following text-message out to supporters who signed up at 3 am:
Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee. Watch the first Obama-Biden rally live at 3pm ET on www.BarackObama.com. Spread the word!

Obviously, this would be historic for Delaware, which has never placed anyone within the White House. And, even though Delaware is a safe Democratic state, this move guarentees that our 3 electroal votes will go to Obama :)

The McCain campaign didn't wait long to slam Obama's decision to put local-boy Joe Biden on the ticket as vice-president.

At least Biden with puch back, unlike Obama, who seems to just want to hand out flowers

And here's some of the local coverage from Delaware's News Journal:

* Plane to pick up Biden at New Castle airport
* Gov. candidate Markell salutes 'dream ticket'
* McCain campaign criticizes Obama's choice
* Out-of-state SUVs roll up to Biden house
* Will Obama make Joe cool?
* Hillary Clinton praises Obama's VP pick
* Non-media crowd grows outside Biden home

Who Swatches the Swatchmen?

My buddy and former classmate Karl Savage posted this funny page that he did as an assignment during our second year at the Kubert School.

The assignment was to take pre-established characters and draw a one page narrative Advertisement of some sort, paying homage to those old superhero hostess ads that appeared in comics in the 70's and 80's.

Here's what I came up with for that assignment:

OR: Jeff Merkley just needs a push

Sean Hannity is a walking quote machine

Best quote from today:

"What's more important, the number of buildings Cindy McCain owns, or the number of buildings that Barack Obama's friend blew up?"

Tornoe toon favorite Sean Hannity on his fair and balanced show tonight.

Do Bush and Cheney really believe McCain was tortured?

The 2008 Bills: Now with 13% less Buffalo!

Screenwriter and columnist Yoni Brenner gives us Deadspin's 2008 Buffalo Bills preview, including his take on the team's decision to play eight games over the next five years in Toronto, including this November 30th against Miami:
"How soon before the "Shout!" song is supplanted by Gordon Lightfoot? How soon before Trent Edwards is required to call audibles in English and French? How soon before the locker room is riven by differing viewpoints on the War of 1812? It's sort of like your girlfriend announcing that she's going to spend a couple nights a week at this handsome, rich guy's bachelor pad—let's call him, I don't know, Pierre. But don't worry! It won't affect your relationship at all. In fact, as she tells it, the intermittent Pierre-boffing is actually going to make your relationship stronger."

How could Kerry "balance" the Democratic ticket?

Our trip to Connecticut

Last weekend, Walsh, my mother and I trekked up to Cantebury, Ct. to visit my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Mike. It's one of those weird places that just instantaneously relaxes you upon your arrival, and is pretty hard to leave. Too bad it's too cold in the winter for you-know-who.

Anyway, here are some pictures of our trip, because I have nowhere else to put them.
