First sketch with my new toy

Just finished playing around with my new toy from work, my Wacom Cintiq. It's like a normal Wacom tablet, the only difference being you can actually draw on the screen!!!

I'm too lazy right now to go upstairs to grab my camera, so this is a picture of how it works. Once I get it all set up properly in my studio, I'll take a picture.

Lock up the animals

The Philadelphia Inquirer has the story of the day.

Apparently, South Jersey police officer, already in jail after being accused of molesting three children, was charged yesterday with four counts of animal cruelty for having sex with barnyard animals.

David McCullough on what Adams and Jefferson would think of politics today

Over on the editoral page of the Kennebec Journal, I came across this video of Opinion Page Editor Naomi Schalit interviewing David McCullough, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "John Adams."

A Clockwork Orange newspaper props

The Barbican Arts Centre in London recently held a Stanley Kubrick retrospective. The foyer of Cinema 1 displayed some treasures from the Kubrick Archive. These newspaper props appear in A Clockwork Orange. Note Malcolm McDowell in the photos. The Ludovico cure touted in the headlines is a brutal and experimental aversion therapy.

There are more pictures here, including scouting photos from Barry Lyndon and the famous pages of Jack Torrence's novel from The Shining.

The annotation noted how there is still some conjecture as to whether Kubrick had every individual page typed, or they were photocopied. For my part, in the making-of documentary for The Shining, we see Kubrick on set typing some of the pages.

Sharpe James, don't look up with your mouth open

Wally Edge just posted this at PolitickerNJ, and I agree with him that it's the best video I've seen this year. At least someone has been able to get back at him!

This week’s Cartoon Caption Contest

Barack Obama is being labeled as an elitist by Hillary Clinton over comments he made at a private fund-raiser in San Francisco. Speaking of small-town Pennsylvanians, Obama said, “it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

So what could he possibly be saying in this cartoon?

Come up with a pointed caption for this cartoon and email it to rob.tornoe@politicker.com, or click here to post a comment. Keep it clean (this is a family website) and keep it brief (brevity is the soul of wit). When you email, include your name and the name of the city and state where you live. Your deadline is noon Friday.

Good luck, and have fun!
