Can't Gonzo get some love?

Here's today's PolitickerNJ cartoon. I've been supportive of Chris Christie in the past, and his record of putting away corrupt politicians is admirable. He also has been one of the most popular Republicans in New Jersey, a reputation that has placed him at the top of the pack in terms of challenging Corzine (if he runs) for Governor in 2008.

However, this latest incident has shown a weakness in his armor. By picking Ashcroft, his former boss, to oversee Zimmer Holdings, a company that made a $311 settlement with the government over paying kickbacks to doctors to use its medical implants firm (and earning up to $52 million in the process), Christie is getting justifiably attacked by Democrats.

Finally.

By calling out the previously untouchable Christie, U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone has shown that deep down, he's got a pair of these:

Bush's choice for the next Attorney General

She reminds me of a young Harriet Miers.

For those of you that would like to read Miss Teen South Carolina's (Lauren Caitlin Upton) statement about the inability of young Americans to point out the U.S. on a map, here it is (Play the video again and read along):

"I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have maps and I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S. or should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future for our children."
